EV Connectors in Pakistan — A Visual Guide

Pakistan's EV market is a mix of European and Chinese imports, which means you'll encounter several connector types. Here's what each looks like and which cars use them.

CCS2 (Combined Charging System Type 2)

The dominant standard for new EVs in Pakistan. Combines a Type 2 AC plug on top with two DC pins below.

  • AC speed: Up to 22 kW
  • DC speed: Up to 350 kW
  • Used by: BYD Atto 3, Sealion 6, Dolphin, MG ZS EV (new), Dongfeng Box & 007, Deepal S07.

Type 2 (Mennekes)

The AC-only portion of CCS2. Many home wallboxes and mall chargers use this.

  • Speed: 3.3 kW to 22 kW AC
  • Used by: Same cars as CCS2 for AC charging.

GB/T

China's national standard. Older Chinese imports use it.

  • AC version: Looks like Type 2 reversed.
  • DC version: Larger round plug with chunky pins.
  • Used by: Older BYD e6, MG ZS EV (early units), some Dongfeng grey-imports.

CHAdeMO

Older Japanese DC standard. Very rare in Pakistan now.

  • Used by: Imported used Nissan Leaf.

Which Cable Do I Need?

If you own a new EV, get a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC stations. DC stations always have their cables tethered to the unit — just plug and go.

Adapter Reality Check

GB/T to CCS2 adapters exist but are not officially certified for use in Pakistan. They can damage the battery management system if poorly built. Stick to your car's native connector.
