Dongfeng Enters Pakistan — Box, Vigo, and 007 Reviewed
Dongfeng's Pakistan launch in early 2025 brought three very different EVs to market simultaneously. We spent two weeks with each. Here's the honest verdict.
Dongfeng Box — PKR 55–60 Lakh
The cheapest new EV in Pakistan today. A compact 4-door city car aimed squarely at first-time EV buyers.
The good:
- Genuinely fun to drive in traffic — instant torque, tight turning circle
- 10" touchscreen, panoramic roof, wireless CarPlay
- Real-world range ~280 km in Karachi summer
- Charges from 30% to 80% in 35 min on a 60 kW DC
The bad:
- Rear seat is tight for adults over 5'10"
- Boot space barely fits a weekly grocery run
- Plastic interior feels its price point
- Build quality variance — two test cars, two different rattles
Best for: Single professionals, second-car buyers in DHA/Bahria.
Dongfeng Vigo — PKR 78 Lakh
A mid-size SUV that targets the BYD Atto 3 head-on.
The good:
- 425 km real-world range
- Spacious cabin, comfortable for family of 5
- 150 hp feels confident on motorways
- Excellent ride quality on broken roads — properly tuned for Pakistan
The bad:
- Software feels half-finished — multiple lag bugs in our test
- Adaptive cruise sometimes ghost-brakes
- Dealer network limited to 4 cities
Best for: Families wanting more space than an Atto 3 at a similar price.
Dongfeng 007 — PKR 92 Lakh
A premium tech-flagship sedan. This is where Dongfeng tries to fight Tesla.
The good:
- 540 km range, 250 kW DC charging (fastest in Pakistan)
- 0–100 in 4.5 seconds — genuinely quick
- Air suspension, head-up display, 21 speakers
- The cabin actually feels premium
The bad:
- PKR 92 lakh puts it in BMW i4 territory but without the badge
- Servicing the air suspension in Pakistan will be a nightmare in year 5+
- Touchscreen-only HVAC controls
Best for: Tech enthusiasts who'd otherwise buy a BMW 3 Series.
Overall Verdict
Dongfeng has done something rare — launched three credible EVs at once without any feeling like a clear loser. The Vigo is the best all-rounder and our pick of the three. The Box is the smartest budget buy. The 007 is impressive but a hard sell against BYD Seal at the same price.
Long-term reliability remains the open question. Check back in 2026 for our year-one ownership update.
